UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Families lined the streets of Indian Trail on Thursday morning, paying their respects to Pvt. James Crump.

Crump stormed the beaches of Normandy and fought in the Battle of the Bulge before returning to Union County.
Crump passed away last week. He was given a horse-drawn caisson and a funeral with full military honors.
