Mabel Williams laid to rest in Monroe Monday

MONROE, N.C. — The wife of civil rights leader and author Robert Williams will be laid to rest in Monroe Monday.
 
Mabel Williams, who was a fellow civil rights activist, died last week at the age of 82.

The couple was from Monroe.

Her husband would go on to be the president of the NAACP chapter there.

Mabel will be remembered Monday at the Harris Funeral Home at 11 a.m.
