Man accused of killing ex-girlfriend nearly cries before judge Wednesday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend nearly cried before a judge on Wednesday.

Jacquece Forrest walked into court hanging his head and barely spoke.

Police said Forrest admitted to shooting his ex-girlfriend, Jennifer Smith, and her friend Luc Gonzalez Tuesday.

Smith's cousin said it was important for her to be in the courtroom for the appearance.

"I want him to see me face-to-face," Latoya McMiller said. "And my family as well, and see our pain and feel our pain. Hopefully he got that from us."

Forrest is in jail with no bond.

Records show he has two previous convictions for assaulting a female.
