CMPD: Man broke into nearly a dozen businesses across Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man is accused of breaking into nearly a dozen businesses over a 2-month span.

Bruce Jones, 59, has been charged with 18 counts of breaking and entering, 12 counts of larceny after breaking and entering, two counts of injury to property, two counts of possession of burglary tools, possession of marijuana and possession of stolen goods.

Police said Jones broke into the businesses by smashing windows and prying open locks.

List of alleged break-ins:

  • July 20: Jones broke into The Spoke Easy Bike shop on Elizabeth Avenue and stole cash.
  • September 4: Jones broke into the Capishe Real Italian Kitchen on Morehead Street and stole cash.
  • September 4: Jones broke into The Spoke Easy bike shop a second time and stole cash.
  • September 11: Jones broke into the Morazan restaurant on South Boulevard and stole cash.
  • September 13: Jones broke into Pureluxe Nail and Spa on Copper Way.
  • September 15: Jones broke into the Compalapa Restaurant on South Boulevard and stole cash.
  • September 20: Jones broke into the Clean Juice on Camden Road and stole cash.
  • September 24: Jones broke into Toccare on Providence Road.
  • September 24: Jones broke into the Foxcroft Wine Co. Dilworth on East Boulevard.
  • September 24: Jones broke into the Wine Loft on South Boulevard and stole cash.
  • September 6: Jones broke into the Artisanal Brewing Ventures on Yancy Road and stole cash.

Police said they arrested Jones on Oct. 18 inside a business on West 9th Street and North Graham Street.

After his arrest, he reportedly confessed to all the crimes.

Jones is being held at the Mecklenburg County Jail.
