ROWAN COUNTY, N.C. — Authorities in Rowan County said they arrested a man who repeatedly sexually assaulted a child under the age of 15.
Earlier this month, deputies began investigating a reported sexual assault of a child.
Detectives determined that the assaults occurred several times and that the suspect was 37-year-old James Barnes, of Rockwell.

Investigators obtained arrest warrants for Barnes. He was also added to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office's "Most Wanted" list.
Barnes was wanted for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, indecent liberties with a minor, second-degree kidnapping, statutory sex offense and statutory rape.
Investigators said Barnes was arrested at a home in China Grove.
He was placed in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $400,000 secured bond.
