• Man arrested in connection with bank robbery


    CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A man has been arrested in connection with a robbery that happened at a BB&T last week.

    Anthony Watson, 53, was arrested around 9 a.m. Monday, police said.

    Detectives said Watson is also suspected in three other recent bank robberies in the Charlotte area. He has currently only been charged in connection with the Aug. 3 robbery of the BB&T on Sardis Road North.

    Police said information from a Crime Stoppers tip accelerated the investigation over the weekend.

    Anyone with additional information about the robberies is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
