Man arrested in connection with University City car break-ins

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man was arrested and charged in connection with several car break-ins in the University City area, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Darris Lavar Fulwiley, 38, was arrested Thursday at his residence on Griers Grove Road, and charged with four counts of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, four counts of larceny and four counts of damage to property.

On Dec. 18 a woman told police someone smashed her window and took her purse from inside her vehicle in the parking lot of Harbor Inn Restaurant on University East Drive.

On Jan. 7 a person called police to Old Mallard Creek Road saying three vehicles had been broken into in the parking lot of the University City YMCA. Windows had been smashed and laptops taken from the vehicles.
