Man charged with DWI after crashing into police car

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police arrested a man they said was driving drunk when he hit a Charlotte Mecklenburg police officer's squad car early Saturday morning.

Christopher Parrish has been charged with DWI.

Police said Officer Trevor Gail was blocking part of East Independence Boulevard around 2 a.m. assisting a tractor trailer that was stuck there.

They said Parrish failed to slow down and crashed into the officer's car.

Officer Gail was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with minor injuries and later released.

Parrish was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. He has been charged with felony serious injury by vehicle, DWI and failure to comply with driver's license restrictions.
