Man charged with murder of Charlotte teen

CHARLOTTE, NC — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have made an arrest in a 2015 shooting in which the victim didn't pass away until months later.

The shooting happened December 20, 2015 in the 1600 block of Vancouver Drive when Ta'Nya LaShay Williams was 16 years old.

According to the original police report, Williams was sitting in a car with two other 16-year-old girls and a 26-year-old man when an unknown suspect starting shooting at them. Williams was shot in the head.

She passed way nine months later at Carolinas Medical Center.

Now, police have charged 20-year-old Arshaun Springs with murder in the case. We're working to learn more about how detectives linked him to the murder.

Springswas expected to make his first appearance in court later Tuesday.
