Man found dead with wife was recently fired from teaching job

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man found killed alongside his wife had just been fired from his teaching job Tuesday.

The son of Clyde and Ida Valentine found his parents' bodies at their west Charlotte home Thursday.

Neighbors said they heard gunshots earlier in the day.

Clyde Valentine was a teacher at Philip O. Berry Academy, but was suspended in June after he was arrested on charges of indecent liberties with a minor.

The alleged victim was not a student, but Clyde Valentine was officially fired Tuesday.

"I feel bad for the son," neighbor Ed Fuller said. "That he had to walk in and find his mom and dad. That's probably the hardest thing of all right there."

Police have not made any arrests in the case, but also say they're not looking for any suspects.
