MARION, N.C. — A manager at a homebuilding company made a family’s dream come true after their Marion home was destroyed by a fire in November 2018.
The home was recently delivered to the financially strapped family.

Cas Smith saw the destruction on the news and was inspired by the family’s story.
Calvin and Shirley Philbeck saved their granddaughter, who is handicapped, from the blaze.
“I, personally, was raised by my grandparents, so this means a lot to me in a lot of ways that these folks don't know,” Smith said. “See, that’s why I did it.”
The $100,000 house has five bedrooms and is 2,400 square feet.
The Philbecks and their granddaughter should be able to move in next month.
