Off-duty officer renders first aid to shooting victim

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man was killed Monday night on Beacon Ridge Road off of South Boulevard just south of Tyvola Road, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said.

An off-duty CMPD officer was inside the apartment complex at the time of the shooting and heard multiple gunshots coming from the parking lot.

The officer immediately responded and located a man inside of a pickup truck who had been shot.

The officer performed CPR on the victim but was unsuccessful in saving his life.  MEDIC responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased.

The victim was inside his vehicle in the parking lot of the apartment complex when he was shot, police said.

Officers identified the victim as 23-year-old Pedro Fabricio Diaz-Paz.
