CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said the man who claimed he was robbed at gunpoint at a BB&T ATM in Ballantyne made up the story.
The alleged crime was reported just after 7 p.m. Tuesday at the BB&T ATM on Ardrey Kell Road, across the street from Elon Park Elementary School.
Police said they brought in their K-9 officers to try and find the suspect.
On Wednesday, police told Channel 9 the alleged victim's story was not credible.
Police are, however, still investigating several similar crimes in the area.
