Man shot, killed by CMPD officer, to be laid to rest

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Channel 9 has learned a man shot and killed by a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer will be laid to rest this weekend, two weeks to the day he was killed.

Jonathan Ferrell's funeral will be held Saturday morning in Tallahassee, Fla.

Ferrell was shot in east Mecklenburg County by Officer Randall Kerrick.

Investigators said Ferrell was not armed at the time and might have been looking for help after being involved in a car crash.

Kerrick is charged with voluntary manslaughter.
