Man struck, killed by tow truck in north Charlotte, CMPD says

CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving a pedestrian early Sunday morning.

Officers responded to the crash along W.T. Harris Boulevard around 1:56 a.m., finding a 2012 Ford F-450 tow truck and the victim. MEDIC pronounced the victim deceased on the scene.

The driver of the tow truck was not hurt and stayed on the scene, according to CMPD.

CMPD identified the victim in the crash as 39-year-old Kennath Dennis

Police say Dennis was crossing the lanes on West W. T. Harris Boulevard when he was hit. He was not in a crosswalk or near an intersection, according to police.

Police said it was dark at the crash location and Dennis was wearing dark clothing.

The tow truck driver was not impaired, police said. It is unknown if Dennis was impaired.
