Man survives I-77 accident, killed after exiting car to check damage

YORK CO., S.C. — A man was struck and killed on 1-77 North Saturday when he left his car after he got into an accident.

Officials said Stephen Anthony Moshier, 57, got into a car accident on I-77 North near exit 88.

He left his Hyundai Genesis to talk to the other driver involved in the crash.

Moshier was struck by a Honda driven by Christopher Diorio, 46.

Officials said Moshier, a resident of Cornelius, died at the scene. Diorio was not hurt.

The car involved with the first crash was not involved in the second one.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating the crash.

Moshier sold medical devices by profession. He was married to his wife Robin for more than 30 years. The couple has three children, two sons and a daughter.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been finalized.
