Management of group home investigates after carjacking

GASTONIA, N.C. — A Gastonia group home is under review by its management after police said a teenager ran away from the home and carjacked a 70-year-old man Thursday.

Partners Behavioral Health Management told Eyewitness News it's investigating Dorothy's Place, a home for young people with mental illness or developmental disabilities.

The state health department told Channel 9 that Dorothy's Place has been operating since February with no violations.

A judge refused Friday to lower the $175,000 bond for 17-year-old Tommy McCray.

Police said he beat up a man outside Eastridge Mall, stole his truck and led police on a high-speed chase to Charlotte, where he crashed.
