Matthews Police Department participating in biennial 'Prom Promise'

MATTHEWS, N.C. — The Matthews Police Department will be participating in the biennial "Prom Promise" mock crash scene at Butler High School, at 1810 Matthews Mint Hill Road, on Friday between noon and 2:30 p.m.

The exercise presents a simulated crash scene, organized by the Butler Dream Team, to show fellow students what could happen if they drink and drive on prom night.

The students are asked to take a “Prom Promise” that they will not drink any alcohol on prom night.

You are advised to not be alarmed if you are in this area during the time of the simulation.

You may see police, fire and medic vehicles responding to the mock scene. It will also have crashed vehicles that have been brought in, as well as role players that may have fake blood and or injuries as part of the exercise.
