Police: 4 people shot at west Charlotte house party

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police spent nine hours in a west Charlotte neighborhood searching for clues in a shooting that sent four people to the hospital Saturday.

"Terrible, terrible," neighbor Lorene Stinson said of the shooting.

He drove by as about a dozen officers combed through the crime scene on Bost Street.

James Stover lives across the street, and said he was asleep just before 6 a.m. when he heard commotion and about 10 gunshots.

"Just some arguing, fussing, sound like a fight and then all of a sudden some shots," he said.

Police said four people were shot during a birthday party that had been going on at the house since Friday night. They said several kids were inside at the time.

Officers searched the home, and said they found numerous bottles of opened and unopened liquor. They believe someone was illegally selling liquor out of the house.

Police did not release a motive Saturday. They said the victims were treated at a hospital and expected to recover.
