MONROE, N.C. — A Monroe man pleaded guilty to Medicaid fraud on Wednesday and now faces up to 15 years in prison for lying about treating children with mental health issues.
Prosecutors said Jerry Taylor conspired with businesses and health care providers between 2015 and 2017 to submit claims for children they did not treat.
One nurse claimed she met with 50 patients for 50 minutes each in one day – which is mathematically impossible.
Taylor pleaded guilty to tax evasion and health care fraud. Several other people have already been sentenced for their role in the scheme.
