Morganton developmental center begins health screenings to prevent spread of coronavirus

MORGANTON, N.C. — Across the Charlotte region, we have started to see more facilities starting to take action to keep the coronavirus from reaching our most vulnerable community members.

J. Iverson Riddle in Morganton is home to about 300 residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. When Channel 9 visited the campus, we learned the workers were being directed to health screenings.

The state is also limiting family members from visiting loved ones to reduce the risk of exposure.

“Very worried, very worried,” a patient’s sister Carolyn Johnson said. “That’s why I think this is a good precaution they’re taking to avoid such a thing happening here.”
