Morganton student accused of making threat of mass violence

MORGANTON, NC — The Burke County Sheriff's Office has charged an 18-year-old student at Freedom High School with making a false threat about mass violence at the school.

Deputies said another student alerted school leaders that Mitchell Logan Webb made threats to "pull a fire alarm and get everyone to come outside and shoot them all."

The principal alerted the school resource officer and Webb was taken into custody after questioning.

He was in the Burke-Catawba District Confinement Facility under a $10,000 bond.
