    HICKORY, N.C. - A mother and her teenage son escaped a burning home Tuesday in Catawba County.

    Channel 9 cameras were on the scene minutes after firefighters arrived at the home in the Forest Ridge subdivision south of Hickory.

    Flames engulfed much of the garage and had spread to the roof heavily damaging the home.

    The owner said she and her son were watching TV when they noticed a light flicker and then saw the flames.

    Several fire departments worked to bring that fire under control. No one was injured.
