Mothers of Murdered Offspring holds brunch for families who lost loved ones

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The group Mothers of Murdered Offspring had a goal to bring holiday spirit to families who may not be as cheerful this season.

They held their annual fellowship brunch in northeast Charlotte on Sunday.

The group hosted families who've lost a loved one to violent crime across the city.

The 25th anniversary of the event honored co-founder and crime victims' advocate Judy Williams.

"I just want people to love each other,” Williams said. “We have got to have more love in this world. That is why the homicides are occurring. People have lost that desire to love each other. I want you to love somebody."

The organization says Williams has been recognized for her commitment for peace, justice and nonviolence.
