Myers Park HS students treated after 'irritant' dispersed on bus, principal says

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — MEDIC crews responded to Myers Park High School Wednesday morning after something was dispersed on a school bus.

The Myers Park High School assistant principal sent parents a message saying during arrivals, an irritant was dispersed on one of the CMS buses.

MEDIC and Charlotte Fire responded to the school. School leaders said students were assessed and treated, but it is not known how many students needed treatment.

They did not say what the substance was.

SCHOOL STATEMENT:

"Good morning Myers Park Families. This is assistant principal Davis. The safety and security of our students is important. This morning during arrival, an irritant was dispersed on Bus #24. MEDIC and Charlotte Fire responded.

Students were assessed and proper medical care was administered. Any student who violates the Code of Student Conduct will be disciplined accordingly. Please, speak with your children about bringing inappropriate items to school. Thanks for your support of Myers Park."

The principal urged parents to speak with their children about bringing inappropriate items to school. School leaders said any student who violates the school's code of conduct will be disciplined.
