Name not yet released for person killed in I-77 accident Saturday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Troopers have not released the name of the person who was killed in a fiery crash on Interstate 77 Saturday morning.

Troopers said two cars were speeding in the northbound lanes near Remount Road.

Witnesses said the drivers may have been racing when one of the cars hit a guard rail and then hit the other car.

One passenger died in the accident and three others were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Charges have not yet been filed.
