NC 10-year-old dead, 4 injured in crash on I-40 near Garner heading to Charlotte

WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — A 10-year-old girl was killed in a crash on I-40 near Garner Tuesday, our news partners at WTVD reported.

Four other people in the vehicle were injured, two with serious injuries and two with minor injuries.

Gloria Joiner, along with her father and three other children, were heading to Charlotte for a Christian youth conference, according to the family's pastor.

The pastor's son was one of the children in the vehicle.

Officials say Gloria's father 36-year-old David Joiner was driving a 2004 Explorer when his tire blew out near White Oak.

David lost control and the car overturned several times on the road. Authorities say Gloria was sitting in the front seat and was killed on impact.
