NC relief group sends group to Iowa towns hit by tornadoes

BOONE, N.C. — A Boone based international relief group has sent a disaster response team and a tractor-trailer full of supplies to areas hit by tornadoes in Iowa.

Samaritan's Purse sent groups to Marshalltown, Bondurant, and Pella, the areas hardest hit by Thursday's storms.

"Many families are devastated by the twisters that tore through their communities Thursday afternoon," president of Samaritan's Purse Franklin Graham said. "We are on the ground helping them recover from the storm. Please pray for these families as we share the love of Jesus Christ with them in their time of need."

Volunteers will help clear debris, remove downed trees, cover roofs, and assist homeowners' in finding any personal belongings.

The group will operate out of the Evangelical Free Church in Marshalltown, Iowa.

Samaritan's Purse is a North Carolina based international relief group. The organization sends groups to assist families after hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, fires, and ice storms.

Over the last year, Samaritan's Purse has sent response teams to help families in Texas and Florida following Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma as well as families in Alabama, North Carolina, and Connecticut after area tornadoes.
