RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina’s State Board of Elections will hold its first meeting Thursday morning since Gov. Roy Cooper appointed the new members.
This will be the first look at the new State Board that will ultimately decide whether to certify Republican Mark Harris the winner of the 9th Congressional District or call for a new election against Democrat Dan McCready.

Attorneys for both candidates have just submitted their witness lists for the upcoming evidentiary hearing that will investigate election fraud allegations.
In November 2018, McCrae Dowless, a man the Harris campaign hired, was accused of illegally collecting absentee ballots in Bladen County, which he denies doing.
Investigators said they plan on presenting evidence to the new board to consider at the hearing starting Feb. 18.
Thursday’s tentative agenda includes a statement made related to ethics and conflicts of interest for the new board, county boards of elections appointments and a review of the new temporary rules that will guide the county boards on how to issue the new voter photo ID cards that are now required by law.
