Neighbors say Broadwell has been communicating with them through email

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Neighbors in Dilworth say they've heard from the woman accused of having an affair with former CIA head Gen. David Petraeus.

No one has seen Paula Broadwell since the scandal broke, but her closest neighbors said she's communicated via email in the past few days.

"She said that the family was together and that they were doing OK, and that they're at an undisclosed place," neighbor Ed Williams said.

Petraeus resigned as the head of the CIA last week after admitting to an extramarital affair.

An FBI investigation linked the affair back to Broadwell. She wrote Petraeus' biography after spending time with him in Afghanistan.
