New guidance to allow daycares to open for first responders', critical workers’ children

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Daycares statewide are getting new guidance about how to handle the coronavirus pandemic.

They’re not being ordered to close, but they are being encouraged to open their doors to take in children of first responders and other critical workers.

“It’s hard for her daycare to be closed. Other people without jobs. It’ll be easier if the daycares were open or something else would help me out with having a little one,” said mother Sherdells Johnson.
