NoDa restaurants reopen after pandemic-driven closures

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — These NoDa restaurants are back in business.

Crepe Cellar Kitchen & Pub and adjoining restaurant Growlers Pourhouse reopened Wednesday after extended closures because of Covid-19.

Growlers had been closed since March 17; Crepe Cellar is reopening for a second time, after a brief reopening in June.

Both of those venues provide an intimate setting — something diners have been cautious to embrace, says Jeff Tonidandel.

“We were hoping things were going to be better,” he says. “I do think people are getting a little more comfortable with what the new normal is.”

He and wife Jamie Brown are behind the Tonidendel-Brown Restaurant Group, which also operates Haberdish and Reigning Doughnuts in NoDa — both of which have been open since June. A new concept, called Supperland, is under construction in Plaza Midwood.

Tonidandel talked with CBJ about the factors the couple considered in deciding when to reopen. Read the full story here.
