North Carolina travelers hit roads, airports for holidays

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two and a half million North Carolinians are traveling this holiday weekend, clogging airports and crowding roads.

Most will be driving, but Eyewitness News also saw several travelers through Charlotte-Douglas airport.

There have been some delayed flights -- some delayed more than three hours -- but passengers said it hasn't been too bad.

"This is a really busy weekend, and there's going to be delays," said Carol Vanderzwang.

"Everybody else who was traveling a little bit ahead before us had difficulties, but now we're fine," said Sharon Fowler.

Charlotte-Douglas also expects to be busier than normal from Jan. 2 through Jan. 4.
