• Road reopened after deadly head-on crash in Huntersville


    HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. - Huntersville first responders were on the scene of a deadly accident early Thursday morning.

    The head-on accident happened around 5:45 a.m. on Eastfield Road, just south of Prosperity Church Road.

    Paramedics said one person died in the crash and two others were taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

    Eastfield Road reopened around 8:30 a.m. after being shut down between Prosperity Church and Browne Road for nearly three hours.

    Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools said some Mallard Creek and North Meck High School bus routes were affected because of the road closure.

    Investigators are still trying to determine how the crash happened.
