Police: 3 officers involved in wreck in Statesville

STATESVILLE, N.C. — Three officers were involved Wednesday afternoon in a vehicle crash on Highway 90 at the city limits of Statesville, according to police.
 
The officers were driving a full-sized white SUV and were conducting a vehicle stop in the outside lane with their lights on.
 
They were rear ended by another passenger car driving in the same lane. The impact caused the officers vehicle to impact the rear of the vehicle that had been stopped causing minor damage to the rear of the other vehicle. The officers are being treated at a hospital for what appears to be minor injuries.
 
This accident is under investigation. The vehicle that hit the SUV had significant front end damage and there is no evidence that this vehicle had tried to brake, according to police.
 
The officers involved work vice narcotics and their names are not being released, police said.
