One dead, several hurt after Union County head-on collision

UNION COUNTY, N.C. — Deputies are investigating a deadly crash that closed portion of a road Monday morning in Union County.

The crash happened just after 8 a.m. on North Carolina 218 East between Old Ferry and Crooked Creek Church Road.

According to the Union County Sheriff’s Office, one person was killed and several others were hurt in a head-on collision. No names have been released.

It’s unclear what led to the crash or how many vehicles were involved.

The road has since reopened.
