1 dead, 3 hospitalized in head-on crash in northeast Charlotte

CHARLOTTE — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officials were investigating a deadly crash on Grier Road in northeast Charlotte around 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Officials confirmed that 29-year-old Albert Bradford Jr. was thrown from his car after the collision and pronounced dead at the scene by MEDIC.

Police said Bradford was heading west on Grier Road when he ran off to the right of the street. After overcorrecting, he crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with another car head-on.

The driver of the other car and two minors in the vehicle were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Bradford was not wearing a seatbelt, according to police.

Officials said inattentiveness and failure to use a seatbelt were the contributing factors in the crash.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
