Organizations partner to help students with housing instability learn remotely

CHARLOTTE — Many parents who have been pushing for a return to the classroom are frustrated with the issues surrounding remote learning.

For families with housing instability, remote learning can be nearly impossible.

“We all got on a call back in September because school was not in, and we were in crisis here on this side of town with the children,” said Veronica Washington, the outreach director at Northside Baptist Church.

Northside Baptist Church partnered with groups, such as the Prodigal Son Foundation and Atrium Health to provide a learning lab space for middle and high school students struggling with housing instability to learn remotely.

The partners working together on the learning lab are:

  • Northside Baptist Church
  • Prodigal Son Foundation
  • Embrace Your Truth
  • Harvesting Humanity
  • Men of Destiny
  • Atrium
  • CMPD
