While SBI investigates CMPD-involved shootings, some claim lack of transparency

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Many in Charlotte had been pushing for outside agencies to investigate when CMPD officers are involved in shootings, which is happening.

The State Bureau of Investigation is now involved in the Nov. 1 shooting that involved a police officer at the EpiCenter in the heart of uptown Charlotte.

Some are wondering if that change has come at a cost to transparency in the investigation, because the SBI does not comment on active cases.

In the video at the top of this web page, an activist from Action NC expressed his concerns and veteran crime reporter took those concerns to the District Attorney.
