Paint spill closes southbound lanes of I-85 in north Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Emergency crews had to close a portion of the southbound lanes of Interstate 85 for nearly an hour Thursday morning after a truck carrying paint spilled that paint all over the highway.

Officials told Channel 9 a Lowe's truck spilled buckets of paint all across the intestate near the on ramp from University City Boulevard around 8:30 a.m.

Nobody was hurt but the spill caused traffic headaches for motorists in the area as all lanes of I-85 southbound were closed.

As of 9:30 a.m., all lanes of I-85 had been reopened but the ramp remained closed while crews cleaned up the spill.
