Parents of boy killed in ATV accident to find out if charges will be filed

SALISBURY, N.C. — Two parents in Salisbury are expected to find out if they will face charges for their 7-year-old's death.

Bryce Rueger was driving an ATV outside his home on Thanksgiving Day when it flipped over and killed him.

State law said it is illegal for children younger than 8 to drive ATVs.

Some people Channel 9 spoke with said that law should be even stricter.

"The age limit should be higher, like 15, 16. A 9-year-old, an 8-year-old, that's too small," said grandmother Robin Allison.

Rueger's 11-year-old cousin was also on the ATV.  His leg was seriously hurt, but he is expected to survive.

Family friends told Channel 9 the boy's father, Andy Rueger, is a crew member for NASCAR driver Ryan Newman.
