    CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Many people who have lived through major hurricanes have restarted their lives in Charlotte. As they prepare for Hurricane Florence, they feel a connection to those leaving the coast.

    In the Carolinas, 1.7 million are leaving their homes.

    Once Florence makes landfall, the communities they return to will likely be different than the communities they left.
