Pastor says signs supporting Amendment One were stolen from his yard

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A local pastor said someone stole his signs about North Carolina’s proposed marriage amendment.

Pastor Dave Kulp said someone stole five marriage amendment signs from his yard this week. The signs were in support of the controversial amendment to define marriage as between a man and a woman.

Kulp said he is in shock that someone would take them, and even more shocked that someone took feces and rubbed it all over his truck.

He said he's now worried about his family.

“I'm thankful that any anger was directed towards me rather than them, but it's getting closer to our house,” Kulp said. “It's happening in our yard, and people are entering in our yard, and trying to either intimidate or show hatred.”

Kulp said he will continue to put those signs up because he believes in the message.

Kulp filed a police report and said he hopes the situation doesn't escalate.
