Pedestrian dies after being hit by car Monday

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police said a pedestrian hit Monday night on Billy Graham Parkway has died.

Richard Stinnett was driving a 2001 Toyota Camry southbound in the 4900 block of the parkway near Scott Futrell Drive at 9:51 p.m.

A pedestrian, who has not been identified, was crossing the street and was hit in the right lane, according to police. The pedestrian was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

Speed is not a factor in the crash, according to police. They said the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk and was impaired.

Police said the pedestrian died at 1:51 a.m. Tuesday as a result of his injuries.
