Officials ID woman hit, killed by car in Clover

CLOVER, S.C. — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle late Tuesday night, South Carolina Highway Patrol reported.

Highway Patrol said Lynda Johnston was struck just before 11 p.m. Tuesday by a 2016 Chrysler driven by a 28-year-old driver from York, S.C.

The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and did not have any injuries, according to Highway Patrol.

Authorities said Johnston was trying to cross Highway 55 near Kingsbury Road.

Johnston was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver remained at the scene and called the police. There have been no charges filed.
