Police investigate after man shot in head, neck

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are looking for the people who shot a man in the head several times in a drive-by shooting in North Charlotte on Saturday night.

Detectives spent hours at the house on Sunstone Drive, looking for clues in a drive-by shooting that's left one man fighting for his life.

"All of a sudden we just heard a bang, bang, bang, bang, bang," said neighbor Elizabeth Altman.

Neighbors said at first they thought it was fireworks from a house party. Within minutes, police and paramedics arrived on scene.

Paramedics confirmed a man was shot several times in the head and neck.

Neighbors said he was standing on his driveway.

"We get here as quickly as we can and we want to take care of the patient as best the best that we can," said MEDIC supervisor Kenny Phillips.

There were several young children playing basketball nearby when the shooting happened.

Several homeowners said they're not used to violent crime on the street.

"We haven't had anything in this neighborhood since i don't know how long, I’ve been here since 1988," said neighbor Ann Hayes.

Residents said they're scared of more violence.

Police haven't confirmed the name of the victim. Police are still looking for evidence in this shooting.
