Rock Hill police search for suspect who stole a truck after deadly shooting, officials say

ROCK HILL, S.C. — The Rock Hill Police Department said officers are searching for a 30-year-old suspect in a stolen truck after a homicide that happened Saturday night.

A man was shot and killed and a woman was injured in the shooting that happened around 8:40 p.m. near a home on Deas Street, off Cherry Road.

Police said they found a 36-year-old man unresponsive, suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso. He died at the scene, investigators said. The York County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Juan Luis Pedroza Macias of Concord.

A 31-year-old woman was found with a gunshot wound in the arm but did not have life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Police are looking for Auscencio Soto-Picazo, who they say fled the scene of the shooting and stole a white four-door 2015 Chevrolet Silverado with South Carolina license plate 80336FM.

The investigation is still ongoing and no suspect information has been released. Police say they believe the shooting is isolated and there’s no further threat to the community.
