• Police: 1 in custody after deadly shooting in west Charlotte

    CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Police said one person was shot and killed in west Charlotte Thursday morning.

    Officers responded to the shooting on Garibaldi Avenue about 4:15 a.m.  Garibaldi Avenue is off Camp Greene Street near Freedom Drive.

    Police said the victim is 25-year-old Johnny Peay, who was shot in the back while getting out of his car in a driveway.

    Homicide detectives said they arrested Connell Montigo Muskelly, 26, in connection with the shooting several hours later. 

    Investigators urged anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
