Police: 11-year-old girl among 3 hurt in southeast Charlotte shooting

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are investigating after three people, including an 11-year-old girl, were shot in southeast Charlotte early Saturday morning.

The shooting happened just after 3 a.m. at an apartment complex on Oak Arbor Lane, which is in the Grier Heights neighborhood off Randolph Road.

Officers said the suspects were in a common area outside when someone shot into the apartment, hitting the little girl and two adults inside.

Channel 9 spoke to one victim’s father who feared the worst when he got a frantic call early Saturday morning.

“When I first got the call that my daughter was shot two times, I thought she was dead,” the victim’s father said. “Really, I thought she was dead and I ran red lights and everything to get over here.”

He said his daughter was shot in both legs. Everyone is expected to be OK.

Authorities have not said what led up to the shooting and no arrests have been made.
