Police: 4 in custody connected to robbery near West Meck HS

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police took four people into custody Thursday in connection with an armed robbery near West Mecklenburg High School’s campus.

Officers received an armed robbery call on Westerwood Drive, which is half a mile away from the school, located on Tuckaseegee Road.

Police managed to track the suspects down at a home on Hudson Graham Lane and swarmed the area.

"Everything was blocked off so then I went around to come around the bottom and that was blocked off," neighbor Michelle Adams said.

Police eventually got the suspects to surrender and come out of the home.

Authorities have not released the details of Thursday's robbery or the identities of the suspects.

But CMPD said it's not connected to series of robberies on Wednesday that led to the arrest of four juveniles.

Police said the juveniles committed a string of robberies in two stolen cars, including robbing a 15-year-old boy who was walking home from school.

"He just said a black car pulled up and some guys jumped out and they jumped on him," said the 15-year-old's mother who didn't want to be identified. "I was furious, you know, I was basically ready to hurt someone, because I couldn't believe this happened to my 15-year-old son."
